Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A revitalized the Russian player claimed his maiden championship for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid year, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive win over challenger Moutet.

This marks his first title after the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface since March of that year.

The win also signifies he has secured twenty-one championships at 21 different events.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my children together, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, comprising in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's retrieving strategy and regular outbursts on court had led commentators to question if his skill to play at the highest level was over.

But the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform assertively, supported by an enhanced service.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors swapped break points in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden professional championship, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

The opponent defended 4 early break points in a close deciding set before the Russian won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the win with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to control a return after a lengthy match.
