An individual who contaminated candy with sedative and provided them to youngsters at a summer camp in the area has confessed to sexual offenses against two young males both nine and 10.
Jon Ruben was taken into custody after eight minors and one adult became sick at Stathern Lodge in the summer month.
The 76-year-old, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, pleaded guilty to a multiple criminal counts when he was present at the judicial center on Friday.
Nevertheless, he denied a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was concerning a nine-year-old child.
The accused was held in detention prior to a further hearing on November 28th.
'Treat game'
The prosecutor, prosecuting, detailed the defendant's actions to the legal proceedings.
She said his victims were under-privileged children who were participating in a youth camp which he managed.
The defendant engaged in a "sweet game" with the minors, the prosecutor explained, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to consume candy "as fast as possible".
She informed the proceedings Ruben had engaged in this activity with the young males "repeatedly", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the next day.
She said the man had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the youngsters being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had suspicions in July 2025.
The prosecutor continued: "Recently" his stepchild had worries about the activities, justifiably.
"They chose" to examine in the defendant's belongings."
The legal counsel explained objects including infant oil, petroleum jelly and syringes were discovered, and his family member alerted the law enforcement about his worries.
She explained Ruben went on to conduct the "sweet game" with six children that time - Saturday 26 July - and they were all ill the next day.
"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that time," she added.
The police watchdog, the investigative body, previously told that it was examining Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.
Mrs Prior explained the youngsters were having difficulty walking due to their sickness, so the stepson contacted the law enforcement once more.
She explained the man then played the "treat game" in a space of five minors.
