The country's power facilities have faced escalating attacks in the past few days

During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused blackouts in extensive areas of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Several individuals were wounded while inhabitants in the city's east were plunged into darkness and faced problems to water supplies, as stated by local authorities.

Meanwhile, a minor was killed in a different Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the country's south-east, according to regional authorities.

Russian forces has escalated attacks on energy facilities over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "substantial measures" from allies to apply pressure on Moscow.

He said that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen rockets struck energy facilities, characterizing such attacks as "cynical and calculated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as winter approaches.

Energy officials said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and maintenance teams were working to repair systems.

A series of attacks struck electrical systems and civilian homes in the capital.

Five out of the nine people injured in the assaults on the city have been taken to hospital, per statements from municipal representatives.

Area administrators said the metropolitan region experienced heavy assaults throughout the evening. A young boy lost their life and several individuals were hurt.

The attacks come after periods of air raids in the region, parts of which remain under the control of Moscow's military.

The whole nation is on alert for advanced weapon attacks, which are more difficult to identify.

Government officials told the media that Moscow was purposely seeking to destroy the national power system, with strikes already disrupting gas facilities.

Authorities confirmed technical personnel and government agencies were bracing for further attacks.
